Jayne Thompson

1977-1991

Jayne Thompson served as Illinois First Lady for 14 years in addition to being an author, tax and civil litigator, and business communications consultant. The only designated substitute speaker for her late husband, Governor James R. Thompson, Jayne assumed statewide leadership roles on issues relating to women, child health care, and education. In 2023, she received the state's highest honor, becoming a Lincoln Laureate.
