Noir 3
The Illinois Governor's Mansion is thrilled to present award-winning art from the Noir 3 exhibition, curated by Alyssa Farmer and Korbin "Kas" King, with guidance from Michelle Smith. The exhibition showcases the profound impact of Black creativity on the world and delves into the perspectives of Black artists and how their culture has influenced various aspects of life, such as hair, music, fashion, and lifestyles. In a collaboration between the Illinois State Museum and Juneteenth, Inc., Noir was originally built out of conservations between Cherena Douglass, Shymeka Kerr, Erica Austin and ISM's late director, Cinnamon Catlin-Legutko, in an effort to highlight diverse communities that makeup Illinois. It is an honor to share these 10 award-winning artists in the Mansion's 2nd-floor gallery.
